Gemological Services

Palmetto Gems also runs a full service gemological laboratory. This enables us to do complete gem identification and gem grading without having to send items away for analysis. However, occasionally, it may be necessary to have a stone sent to an independent lab for certain complex testing only available at a very select few labs in the country. PGGS will assist you in making the determination when this may be necessary, and choose the best lab for the job. Photomicrographs are also available to photographically capture the internal structure of a particular stone for identification documentation.

Appraisals are another of our services. We provide accurate and complete documentation of your gems or jewelry items. Two GIA trained graduate gemologists will participate in each appraisal. This helps ensure accuracy in grading and valuing items.
